Understanding my Elbow Pain
Why does my elbow hurt?
Did you have an incident, or did your elbow just get sore over time?
We treat traumatic elbows and those that just get sore over time a bit differently.
The most common are tennis elbow (outside), golfers elbow (inside), biceps tendinopathy (front), and olecranon bursits (back).
Throwing sports have to watch for the ligaments on the inside of the elbow too.
What can we do about it?
Jenkins Physiotherapy uses hands on manual therapy, exercises, dry needling, advice and ongoing recommendations to help your body recover. We can also recommend the right supportive bracing when it’s needed.
We want to find exercise that you can, establish clear parameters and dosages so which gets you back to normal gradually.
We find ways to strengthen affected joints and muscles, and progressively restore active range of movements.
We set benchmarks for your strength with hand held dynamometry, and static dumbell challenges.
If it’s too sore often ice, painkillers and supportive brace, tape or bandages are needed.
You should know that tendons can take weeks and sometimes months to heal.
Flare ups can happen, but we manage that and get going again.
