Understanding my Wrist Pain

Why does my wrist hurt?

Did you have an incident, or did your wrist just get sore over time?

We treat traumatic wrists and those that just get sore over time a bit differently.

Do you experience finger numbess at night and have to shake it out like carpal tunnel syndrome? Did you fall onto your wrist and fracture your scaphoid, or strain the distal radioulnar joint or the scapholunate ligament complex? Were you using a power tool that got stuck and twisted your wrist like triangular fibrocartilage?

What can we do about it?

Jenkins Physiotherapy uses hands on manual therapy, exercises, dry needling, advice and ongoing recommendations to help your body recover. We can also recommend the right supportive bracing when it’s needed.

We want to find exercises that you can perform to help you back to normal gradually, however sometimes strapping and holding it together is the best intervention sometimes too.

We look for ways to strengthen affected joints and ligaments, and progressively restore active range of movements.

If it’s too sore often ice, painkillers and supportive brace, tape or bandages are needed.

Flare ups can happen, but we manage that and get going again.
