Understanding my Hip Pain and why it hurts
Why does my hip hurt?
Did you have an incident, or did your hip just get sore over time?
We treat traumatic hips and those that just get sore over time a bit differently.
The big 5 around the hip plus one:
hip flexor tendon strains
joint pathology like labral tears common with CAM and Pincer defects causing femoro-acetabular impingement (FAI)
adductor tendinopathy (groin strain)
abdominal strain
pubic symphysis inflammation (bone pain)
gluteal tendinopathy aka bursitis
What can we do about it?
Is your hip stiff, painful or hypermobile? There’s a different approach to each.
Jenkins Physiotherapy uses hands on manual therapy, exercises, dry needling, advice and ongoing recommendations to help your body recover. We can also recommend the right supportive bracing when it’s needed.
We find ways to strengthen affected joints and muscles, and progressively restore active range of movements.
We also want to find exercise that you can do that is healthy and gets you back to normal.
You should know that tendons can take weeks and sometimes months to heal.
Flare ups can happen, but we manage that and get going again.
